Big Picture is a 10-minute video installation with a spinning video projector and a large-scale circular canvas, as a contemporary version of a 19th century panorama painting. I created the piece during a residency at the Lake Studios in Berlin.
As the titular expression “big picture” refers to, the piece explores the societal desire for understanding the world. The piece maps how this totalizing desire seamlessly moves between fact and fiction, reality and spectacle, as it investigates the intersection between education, entertainment and history.
